The Baptist Health Care (BHC) Continuing Medical Education (CME) program exists to plan, conduct and evaluate educational activities in order to foster professional development and performance as well as to improve patient safety and outcomes.

 

Purpose


The purpose of the CME program is to:

  • Provide physicians, advanced practice providers and other health care professionals with high quality, evidence-based educational activities that are free of bias.
  • Improve physician and advanced practice providers (APP) competence and performance levels of medicine, medical technology and other changes within the health care industry.
  • Collaborate with other entities and align with departments to implement CME activities that improve patient safety.
  • Advance the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases identifying professional education gaps and needs.
  • Enable providers and other medical professionals to earn all or most required medical education requirements established by hospitals or other regulatory agencies for the improvement of patient outcomes.

 

Content

 

The CME service at BHC includes a broad range of primary care, speciality and subspecialty topics identified through a needs assessment identifying gaps. Both live and e-learning opportunities are available that include, but are not limited to, live lectures, interactive seminars, webinars, and online training modules.

  • Patient safety
  • Clinical practice
  • Leadership development skills
  • Evidence-based medicine
  • Procedures
  • Health care industry changes

 

Expected Results

 

Participants are expected to take what they learn into their practice to improve their knowledge and performance in areas of patient care, patient safety and professional practice.

The BHC CME program is expected to design educational activities to meet the current or potential scope of professional activities for their participants. The program is deigned to evaluate and assess each CME activity.
